Join us for classes, group sessions, community events and other activities at Clay Works!.
Adults and youth groups and individual classes are available at Clay Works!. If you're a beginner, our hand-building and throwing on the wheel classes offer the perfect opportunity to get your hands dirty, play with some clay and unleash your creativity. Seasoned potters and beginners and will enjoy our studio camaraderie and group sessions, where you can ask questions, share ideas, laughs and insights while honing your skills. We also host seasonal community activities where you can drop in and create a small clay project. Whether you want to enjoy time with friends, schedule a team-building event, or simply looking for a fun outing with loved ones, group activities with clay provides a fun collaborative experience.

Return to glaze your Charming Gnome creation from the Nov. 25th class. Gnomes will be glaze fired in time for Christmas.

Using slabs of red stoneware clay, you will cut out and assemble a gnome and a hat. Add texture, hair and other features to personalize your gnome. Return on Dec. 3rd to glaze the hat with colorful underglazes and stain the body with a red iron oxide wash.

Learn how to create your own Wall Shelf using slabs of clay, for your home or garden.

Create a Charming Christmas Gnome
Using slabs of red stoneware clay, you will cut out and assemble a gnome and a hat. Add texture, hair and other features to personalize your gnome. Return on Dec. 1st to glaze the hat with colorful underglazes and stain the body with a red iron oxide wash.
Workshop fee: $60
Workshop: Pumpkin Luminary GLAZING
Return to glaze after pieces are bisque fired. Pumpkins will be fired in time for Thanksgiving (lights included).

Glaze your pieces
Prepare bisqued pieces for glazing. Dip or brush on glaze and prepare piece for firing.
Workshop: Pumpkin Luminary
Create a stunning pumpkin luminary to decorate your Thanksgiving table. We will start by texturing soft slab clay, then cut out the design using a template. Pumpkins will then be assembled using a form for support. Leaves and stems made from coils can then be added to the pumpkin to create your own beautiful piece. Return to glaze after pieces are bisque fired. Pumpkins will be fired in time for Thanksgiving (lights included).

Adult Hand Building - Beginners 4 of 5
Casserole Dish - 2 methods
Builds a small casserole dish with either slump or hump molds. Add handles.
Workshop: Mug with Underglaze Transfers
Learn how to apply underglaze transfers onto a porcelain mug (provided by instructor Robin Ireland). Pick from many beautiful transfers and create your own design and to apply to your own mug. We will finish the mug by waxing the bottom of the mug and then dipping the mug into a clear glaze for firing. Mugs will be glaze fired for pick up later.

Decorative Soap Dishes
Learn how to utilize a slump mold to make a decorative soap dish with feet. Use leaves or lace to add texture to the dish.

Create a plate or platter using hump molds and soft slabs. Decorate plates with underglaze transfers.

Textured Mug with Handles
Build a mug using soft clay slabs and a cylinder. Explore adding texture to the clay and learn how to make handles and join edges.
DECORATE YOUR OWN PORCELAIN MUG - AT WESTSLOPE DISTILLERY
Robin Ireland will show you how to decorate a hand thrown porcelain mug with clear underglaze transfers while sipping specialty craft cocktails. All materials provided. Mugs will be glazed and fired at Clay Works for pick up later. REGISTER BY SEPT. 28, CALL 406-375-5590
