Empty Bowls is an international project supported by Clay Works! and local restaurants and bakeries.

Empty Bowls in the Bitterroot is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2017 with the help of Clay Works! in the Bitterroot Cooperative, located at 325 W. Main St. in Hamilton, MT.

For a $30 donation, you will enjoy a luncheon featuring gourmet soup and breads from local restaurants and bakeries and a hand made bowl lovingly crafted by local potters and members of Clay Works! to take home as a reminder of the many “empty bowls” in the Bitterroot Valley.
Proceeds are distributed to our local food banks in Darby, Hamilton and Stevensville and The Community Meals Program in Hamilton.

Empty Bowls 2024
was a great success!

“Food insecurity in the Bitterroot Valley is as high as it ever has been and this is a way that you, as a caring member of our community can support the local programs that help feed the hungry,” explains Robin Ireland, Vice President of Empty Bowls in the Bitterroot. “We usually raise $5000/year. Robin adds, “it always hits me the most when the doors open up at 11:00 am for the first seating and the smell of soup wafts out into the foyer where folks line up with their tickets in hand anxiously waiting to pick out their bowl and see what soups they will be tasting.”

To date (2017-2024) Empty Bowls in the Bitterroot has raised and distributed over $42,000 to fight hunger in the Bitterroot Valley.
